Transit OS

Features

Booking and tickets.

Somebody remembers at ten at night that they need the clinic on Thursday. Every dial-a-ride site we measured tells them to ring back in the morning.

01

Trip requests

A rider asks in writing, at any hour. It reaches the dispatch board, and your office rings back and decides.

  • Where from, where to, which day — and whether the time that matters is an arrival, because a dialysis appointment is an arrival.
  • Wheelchair, walking frame, oxygen, a carer travelling too: free text, because the list of things to plan for is never complete.
  • A request, not a booking. The form says so twice and the confirmation says it again.
  • Requests nobody has picked up carry the dispatch badge ahead of everything else. Somebody is waiting for an answer.

Seats and tickets

Hold a seat without a card machine. Excursions, day rovers, memberships, charter deposits and donations where the giver names the amount.

  • Capacity by date, so an excursion sells out honestly rather than twice.
  • Every order is held as pay at the depot until you connect a payment account. The booking page says so in those words.
  • A double tap on a slow connection is one reservation, not two.
  • Counter sales for the office, and refunds recorded with an amount and a reason — partial refunds included.

03

The gate

One field, one button, one answer a guard can read at arm's length in the rain.

  • Tickets are signed with your own key, so a forgery fails without a lookup and another agency's ticket fails too.
  • Scanning twice admits once, then says when it was first used. It does not accuse anybody — that is your call.
  • Every check recorded, refusals included, because that record is what settles an argument on a platform.
  • A phone camera pointed at the code opens a page that says whether it is genuine. Looking does not spend it.

What it costs, before anything is connected

Card payments are switched off until you decide otherwise. When you do, here is the whole arrangement — on the screen before you connect, not on an invoice afterwards.

01

1% of what you collect

Only on money that actually moves. Nothing on a reservation somebody pays at the depot.

02

Your processor's fee is theirs

Quoted separately on the same screen, so the figure that reaches you is the one you see.

03

We never hold your money

It goes to your own account. Not in our balance overnight, and no arrangement under which it could be.

04

We never see a card

Card details go from the rider's browser to the processor. No field in our database could hold one.

05

An account id, never a key

Paste a key into our form and it refuses, and tells you to revoke it.

06

Cash stays first-class

For as long as it is first-class for your riders. It is not a fallback path we intend to let rot.

The interior of a small historic depot: a large round wall clock above wainscoting, an empty bench, and long afternoon window light across the floorboards.

Put one line in and see.

An afternoon, one line, one day of runs. You will learn more from a single line that is completely right than from a whole system that is roughly right.
